Nine Dead in Mumbai-Dehradun Train Fire Accident

This incident took place in Mumbai-Dehradun Express near Thane district of Maharashtra, around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. According to the sources, the fire is said to have started in the S-3 compartment and spread to two others. The gate-man noticed the fire in the compartments at a level-crossing, who immediately alerted the guard and the driver, which would otherwise be a huge disaster.


The fire came to control at Gholwad Station, around 145 km from north of Mumbai on the border of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Accident relief vans and trains have rushed to the tragedy site and took control over the relief operations. Higher railway officials are also said to have rushed to the spot. The main cause of the fire accident is not yet confirmed.

The death toll has raised to 9, which was earlier 6. Two of the dead bodies are identified and the rest are yet to be identified. Most of the injured are hospitalized.
